Inheritance

Woo its been a long time
I totally forgot to do this a month ago

Nemeia and Rhiadden begin their day long travel back to Katalal. Going along the road they pass into the town of Coulsburn and notice a crowd of people surrounding a strange looking half-elf. As they approached they noticed the people were excited, and that the elf seemed to be pulling a way a bit. Nemeia tried to climb a wall in order to get a better view, but ended up just scrabbling at wall in vain. Rhiadden went and asked a member of the crowd standing on the edge, learning the elf’s name was Tibnor Biren, and that he was a master craftsman of glass and other products. They approached him to ask about various things, and he continuously tried to sell them various spheres of glass. Despite not wanting any, they convince him to travel with them Katalal, he becomes very excited at the prospect of visiting the grand market.

Once they get to Katalal they decided to head to Nemeia’s friend Nemie’s obscure animal store. They know Nemeia’s old employers will likely be looking for her, and figure they should get as much info as they can. On the way they encounter two guards chasing a koblod. Rhiadden intervenes, stopping the kobold short, and returning him to the guards. They thank her, though are a little off put by all of her questions. Eventually they get on their way again, arriving a Nemie’s Animal Emporium without trouble.

While there things appear to be normal, with Nemie warning them that the gang is looking for Nemeia, however when she goes to pet Nemeia’s jub jub bird she slips a note into her hand. Nemeia leaves the store to wait outside while Tibnor buys hay for his llama and Rhiadden and Mrs. Goldbeast get their heads stuck in animal feed while looking around.

Nemeia reads the note, and is surprised that nemie is warning her that the gang likely knows she is there already because they’ve been watching the store. She looks up and around, noticing two suspicious looking characters, who fortunately do not notice her. She returns inside to want her friends, (and disentangle Rhiadden from whatever she’s gotten into now. They als go back outside, Tibnor first and a bit ahead so as to make it seem like they are separating.

As Tibnor follows the thugs at a distance they enter a small courtyard. Tibnor decideds to intervene and distract them while Nemeia and Rhiadden go around and through a back alley to come at them from behind. The thugs are rather unimpressed with Tibnor, and further confused by all the glass balls he tries to push onto them. He expounds upon the many uses of these spheres, and tells them he will demonstrate, pulling out a modified bow and putting on of the spheres in place. He aimed high into the air, the two gang members looked at each other in confusion before the tiny crystal sphere hurtled down and miraculously hit one in the temple, bouncing off and hitting the other just next to the eye. Far behind him Nemeia and Rhiadden looked at each other in confusion, wondering at what had just happened.

Its not everyday you see a craftsman with a llama take out two gang members with only a small sphere of tempered glass.

We left off at the search of the thugs, finding a small map to what is supposedly their base, and the players figuring out where it leads to and deciding they should take care of them.

In between sessions info dump

Waking, Nemeia finds her back is itchy and sore. At closer inspection it is revealed that she has nubs growing, presumably that will develop into wings eventually. She also finds that her fingernails/claws have been growing sharper and much more pointed, leaving her with near talons.

While Nemeia has been making these discoveries, Rhiadden has been speaking to Shinebright about going to town to power up and possibly learn where her mother might’ve been headed. He tells her of a half-elf, “your kind” specifically, that lives in town and might have additional info since she travels a lot. He also tells her about an Aran (the bug people) who owns an ‘oddities’ shop. “She might have items useful to you, and if not tell her i sent you and she’ll help in any way possible. Her name is Cerelia. She doesn’t speak common, however she is very adept at figuring out what people require.” Shinebright tells you two that he isn’t sure where the half-elf who can help you is, nor what her name is. “I unfortunately had my ex apprentice deal with her, and even then she was very cagey about most personal details. She is generally found in the tent city or the largest market place with her caravan. Cerelia might be able to help you find her, I believe they’ve done business?”

He hands the two of you a copy of a map of the region. “This should show you the way, however I would caution that if not on the roads you may come across more than a few dangerous beast. Being on the edge of the northern forest means many odd creatures roam this area.”

While preparing to leave for Katalal, Korziver speaks with Nemeia and tells her he will not be joining you on the trip to the city. He feels that, besides the fact that druids are greatly effective in cities, it might help Nemeia avoid detection of the gang if she isn’t going around with a half senile old gnome and his wolf-bro.

Aerirun intends to continue along with you, helping in anyway she can, as she feels she was assigned to help Rhiadden complete her mission to find her mother.

Ah to be a goat no longer
Also known as: wow you guys kill literally everyone

Nemeia, Rhiadden, and their companions decide that they will wait in the central area of the house (since they literally broke the door of the locked bedroom) and try to ambush the sorcerer-leader of this group. After a short while of waiting they hear some light noises outside. They then hear shouting and stomping up the ramps. The sorcerer comes in yelling for his guards and calling them incompetent and all sorts of names. Surprisingly despite not quite successful attempts at stealth they manage to get the drop on him. He gets a bomb thrown straight at him, singing him quite a bit. Rhiadden’s shot misses and Korziver barely hurts him with his spell. The sorcerer manages to close and lock the door before running away. He polymorphs the table he’s hiding behind into a table dragon wyrmling. Meanwhile, Missus Goldbeast and Wolfy throw themselves at the door on their master’s command, managing to break through it. Aerirun runs and attacks the sorcerer, doing some damage. He retaliates by freezing her very lightly. Rhiadden comes in, discombobulates herself, but luckily managed to command Missus Goldbeast. Da real mg leaped … and … missed. NEmeia and Korziver both try to attack, and both fail. The table is fully morphed, and on the sorcerer’s command breathes on Aerirun. She dodges the worst of the damage, but is still quite injured. Korziver burns the sorcerer twice more for lots of damage. Nemeia does the final damage and drops the man. The wyrmling morphs back, and now looks like a sadly beaten table.

On the sorcerer they find an enchanted dagger that emits fog as an ability 1/day, some money and some dust of dryness. They also manage to re-polymorph their friend back into an elf. He offers them use of his home and abilities, not being able to offer monetary compensation for their help. They decided to take him up on his offer and will stay there while adventuring around town and looking for clues of Rhiadden’s mother.

First Sessions
and First Impressions

Rhiadden started just a few miles outside of town. She and her friend, Aerirun Night’s End, were walking along the path when they encountered a goat that thrust a scroll that it held in its mouth towards them. Once they used the scroll they learned of his sad tale and promised him help. They had just begun in the direction given with the goat in tow, when they were confronted by an orc who demanded the goat. After numerous attempts to dissuade him, he grew impatient and attacked. After dealing with him and his companions the group decided they were too wounded to continue, thus going to town to heal up.

Already in town was Nemeia, she had been there for a few months and had been working for a small time gang boss. Things had been going well, and being one of the few alchemists in a small town had lead to some pretty decent pay. But things never stay the same, and when Nemeia and her group went to do a job for their boss, they found he had sold them out. One friend went down quickly, the other fell while creating a distraction for Nemeia and Corziver. After their narrow escape and the death of their friends, they decided they deserved compensation. They went after their boss, and ended him swiftly.

Strolling down one of the main streets and celebrating their victory, Nemeia turned to Corziver to mention something when she realized he had wandered off. When she found him he was contemplating a goat who looked very out of sorts under the odd close scrutiny. After a short exchange they learned of the mission the elves accompanying were going to undertake now that they had healed up. Corziver was quick to offer their services saying it would be nice to get out of town, while Nemeia mentioned they had just recently become unemployed.

The group traveled with no encounters, and made it to where they had been instructed to go. Once there Rhiadden snuck on ahead with her dire lion to see what she might learn. Unfortunately they ran into each other, alerting those ahead to their presence. Luckily it was only a small group of baboons, unluckily they were all carrying greatswords. Rhiadden engaged them in conversation while Nemeia tried to inch around them. They noticed, and attacked. The fight did not last very long, with the dire lion and Corziver’s dire wolf taking care of the bear reinforcement. The group then decided to look around, and finding no one present in the near by buildings engaged in some looting.

Not bad for a short first session! Hope we can make this work for a while!

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.
